The decision of the authorities in Canberra to transfer Bushmaster armored vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine was the fastest such move in modern Australian history.
The Bushmaster is an Australian armored vehicle designed to provide a high level of protection and mobility in combat conditions. Developed by Thales Australia (formerly ADI Limited), this vehicle was originally created for the Australian Army, but later gained popularity among other armies of the world.
Development of the Bushmaster began in the late 1990s in response to the Australian Army's need for a modern armored vehicle that would provide high mobility and protect personnel against mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The first prototypes appeared in 1998, and serial production began in 2005. Since then, this armored vehicle has been used in many military operations, in particular in Afghanistan, Iraq and Mali, where it has shown high efficiency and reliability.

In addition, the armored personnel carrier can be equipped with a variety of weapons, including machine guns, grenade launchers and other weapons systems, which allows it to be adapted to various combat missions.
It is also characterized by high mobility and versatility. It is able to cover different types of terrain, including deserts, mountains and jungles, thanks to its powerful suspension and large tires with adjustable pressure. This vehicle is used for various tasks such as patrolling, medical evacuation, transport of personnel and cargo.
