KTO Rosomak

KTO Rosomak is a new generation wheeled infantry fighting vehicle and armored personnel carrier, based on the Finnish Patria AMV and adapted for the Polish Army. It combines high mobility, high-quality protection, and the ability to install various combat modules, making it one of the most successful platforms on the European arms market.
Thanks to its versatile modular design, the Rosomak APC is used as a transport vehicle for delivering infantry, as a combat unit with powerful weapons, and as a base for specialized systems – from mortars to command posts.

Main characteristics of the KTO Rosomak

Wheel formula: 8×8 with independent suspension, allowing the clearance to be adjusted from –250 mm to +200 mm.
Weight: 22 to 26 tons, depending on the modification.
Engine: Scania DI 12 or DC13 diesel, with a power output of 480 to 610 hp.
Maximum speed: up to 100 km/h on the highway and about 10 km/h on water.
Range: 590–800 km.
Crew: 3 military personnel (commander, gunner, mechanic-driver).
Troop transport: up to 8 fully equipped soldiers.
Armament: Bushmaster II Mk44 automatic cannon (30 mm), 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm machine guns, Spike-LR anti-tank missile system, or other modules.

Amphibious capability: the vehicle can overcome water obstacles thanks to water jet propulsion.

Combat capabilities of the Rosomak APC

The Rosomak APC is designed as a versatile combat vehicle capable of performing a wide range of tasks on the battlefield. It provides fast and safe delivery of infantry to the combat zone, serves as a powerful tool for supporting offensive operations thanks to its cannon and modern weapon systems, and reliably covers infantry units with fire in combat. Thanks to modern sensors and surveillance devices, the vehicle can effectively perform reconnaissance functions, which significantly expands its tactical capabilities. In addition, its design and special modifications allow this armored personnel carrier to be used to evacuate the wounded and even to repair damaged equipment directly in the combat zone.
The fire control system includes thermal imagers, laser rangefinders, and stabilized sights, allowing the crew to effectively detect and engage targets both day and night, regardless of weather conditions.

The Rosomak APC can be equipped with several weapon options:
Hitfist-30P – a classic two-seater turret with a Bushmaster II Mk44 (30 mm) cannon, a 7.62 mm machine gun, and the option to integrate a Spike-LR anti-tank missile system.
ZSSW-30 – Polish remote-controlled combat module with Mk44/S automatic cannon, UKM-2000C machine gun, and dual launcher for Spike-LR missiles.
OSS-D – a turret with a 40 mm Mk19 grenade launcher or a 12.7 mm machine gun (in the M2 and M3 versions).
EOS R400S Mk.2 – an Australian remote module with a 30 mm ATK M230 LF cannon (probable configuration for Ukraine).
Thus, the Rosomak IFV can act as an armored personnel carrier with machine gun armament or as a full-fledged infantry fighting vehicle with a powerful cannon and anti-tank missiles.

Variants and modifications of the Rosomak APC

Rosomak-M1 / M1M – basic versions for the Polish Army; the M1M has reinforced armor for Afghanistan.
Rosomak-S – carrier of Spike-LR anti-tank missiles.
Rosomak-WEM – medical version for evacuation and assistance to the wounded.
Rosomak-WRT – technical reconnaissance and repair vehicle.
Rosomak Long (L) – extended version with an 8.4 m hull and Scania DC13 engine (610 hp), prepared for new combat modules.
Rosomak Rak – a self-propelled 120 mm mortar with a range of up to 12 km.
Rosomak-AWD and WD – command vehicles for battalion and artillery control.
Rosomak-WSRiD – a carrier for multi-sensor reconnaissance and surveillance systems.

The Rosomak vehicle has proven its reliability in the Polish army, as well as during peacekeeping and combat operations in Lebanon and Afghanistan. There, the armored personnel carriers repeatedly withstood direct hits from RPGs, ensuring the survival of the crew and troops.
Rosomak is currently being actively supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, significantly increasing their mobility and firepower in the confrontation with Russian occupiers.
Modern armored vehicles require high-quality support and maintenance. BMS plays an important role in this area, supplying military spare parts and providing technical service for armored vehicles. Reliable supply of parts and qualified service allow Rosomak APCs to maintain high readiness even in difficult combat conditions.
